The tuned Fiat 500 was dedicated to the legacy of the prancing horse. Next month, Maserati will be honored.

The Tributo Maserati Abarth 695 will hit the halls of the motor show in Geneva highlighting the luxurious features Maserati is known for and pacing the extra kick that Abarth wants in every ride it gets its hands on.

Only 499 units of the Maserati tribute Abarth 695 will be sold in the market. The car was a product of collaboration between Abarth and Maserati. It features the Gran Turismo comfort plus all the elegance you can put into the ride and the handling that you can rely on driving around the asphalt everyday.

Under the hood of the Abarth 695 tribute car is a boosted 1.4L 16 valve T-jet powerplant that gives out 180 horsepower mated with Abarth Competizione gearbox that can be manipulated with paddle shifters. Other features include Brembo brakes 17-inch rims by Maserati, and dual mode exhaust setup.

The car gets a Pontevecchio Bordeaux finish from Maserati and gets a soft top made of grey fabric. The interior is dominated by Poltrona Frau rare leather, matte finish trim, and Jaeger made instruments. Looking at the inside, you can say this ride is more Maserati than a Fiat.

Here are some nice facts that you may want to add to your automotive knowledge bank:

The Lamborghini Murcielago steps down the lineup and replaced by the Lamborghini Aventador.

The sticker price on this monstrous bull starts at $387,000.

All the power comes from a V12 6.5L powerplant that gives out 690 horsepower with a torque of 509 lb-ft.

The big engine requires a minimum oil level of 3.4 gallons so it will run smoothly and around 6.6 gal of coolant to keep the temperature of the engine acceptable Yup, that is about five times more than your ordinary car.

The powerful engine is coupled with a 7 speed Independent Shifting Rod gearbox that makes shift times faster than a dual clutch transmission.

The annul fuel cost to run the Aventador is about $4,291 as it goes on the city 11mpg, on the highway 17 mpg, and a combined rating of 13 mpg. A full tank on average will cost you around $80. Plus think of the additional tax for a gas guzzling ride.

Wonder why it consumes that much fuel? The Aventador can go from 0 to 60 mph in jut 2.9 seconds with a top speed pegged at 217 mph.

The Aventador is equipped with F1 style suspension and has a monocoque carbon-fiber architecture. According to Lamborghini, the ride is two generations advance compared to any of their available rides.

It also has a Haldex 4WD system.

You might be waiting for a roadster version? It will be coming by 2012.

The Bentley Continental is a name that has been given to numerous vehicles over the years since 1952. For example, Bentley R Continental, Bentley S1 Continental, Bentley Continental R, GTC Bentley Continental GTC, and the Bentley Continental GT, just to name a few. Each Bentley Continental was considered luxurious and a car that many people wanted to own simply because of the prestige that is associated with these cars. The Bentley automaker first began in 1919, however they focused more on racing cars, rather than the luxury line that they would later focus on.

The first Bentley Continental was the Bentley R Type. This car was one of those cars that people said was flashy and demanded that those passing by stop and stare. The car was much similar to a Rolls Royce, which was the idea. Most people find that performance wise, this car was above and beyond many other cars at the time. However, as time began to pass, Bentley was able to develop cars that were much more performance driven.

Probably one of the most common and popular types of Bentley Continental, is the Bentley Continental GT that was first produced in 2003. Performance wise, the GT can go from zero to sixty in around 4.8 seconds, which is the main reason people are drawn to the car. However, cosmetically wise, the car screams luxury with sleek lines and a look of expense. The car is still in production today and is considered one of the best selling cars that the automaker offers. An upgraded version of the GT was introduced to the public as the Continental Flying Spur. This car utilizes the most advanced technology that is available. With a top speed of 194 miles per hour, as well as going from zero to sixty in 4.9 seconds and equipped with a V12 motor, there is no doubt why this is considered another one of their top selling vehicles.

The Continental GTC is the GT version only with a convertible top, which was something that many consumer longed for in the car. The speed is the exact same that the GT will get since the cars are literally identical to one another.

The newest Bentley Continental is the Bentley Continental Supersports. The car is the first of the Bentley cars to run off of gasoline, as well as biofuel. Which automatically puts it in a class of cars that are considered rare and elite. On top of this honor, the Supersports is known as the best handling Bentley that they have ever produced, something to definitely be proud of. The car is also going to become available in a convertible version for those that like to feel the wind in their hair. Even though the Supersports is highly powerful, it still is capable of running on FlexFuel, which is pretty amazing if you ask me…

For those that are hoping to one day own a Bentley Continental then they should begin saving now. The Continental Supersports will run around $250,000, while the classic models of the Continental are hard to find, which means even more out of pocket to own the car. In any case, owning a Continental is a dream that many people have.

The Ferrari California was first introduced at the 2008 Paris Motor Auto Show, and it was the moment in which Ferrari did a number of firsts with this vehicle that the public was surprised and appreciated greatly. For starters, the Ferrari California was the first Ferrari that included a front engine that was a V8. In addition, it was the first car to utilize a folding metal roof, a seven speed dual clutch transmission, and the first with direct petrol injection.

Performance wise the Ferrari California can go a maximum of 193 miles per hour, with a time of 4 seconds when going from zero to sixty. Which is impressive, and perhaps one of the many reasons why the car is sought after by performance car enthusiasts. The California definitely kept with the history of Ferrari as providing performance driven cars that people love, as well as providing high quality cars that have all the bells and whistles. However, even though the Ferrari California is viewed as a performance car, it was intended to be for cruising just as much as a performance car.

The ride suspension that Ferrari used in the California is different from what they normally use in their cars, which helps the ride to be much smoother than the average Italian car. This is one aspect that professionals liked about the vehicle, as it did prove to be successful at its goal of being a cruising car as well as performance based. However, probably the most notable feature that professionals commented on was the foldaway metal roof that allowed the car to turn into a convertible with a moment’s notice at the touch of a button. Many professionals found that this aspect was a safety issue that Ferrari handled with ease. Too many times, people view those cars with removable soft tops as being dangerous in the event that the car does roll, however, the California puts those worries to bay as the top is constructed of the same durable metal that the entire car is constructed in.

Click here to view the embedded video.

There are a number of options that are available with the Ferrari California, including the options to choose nineteen or twenty inch wheels, plus numerous interior options. Options such as certain upholstery being used on the seats, as well as a different color of trim. Plus, people do have the options of choosing exterior colors and trims that are not considered the norm. Just another way that Ferrari has enabled consumers to make the car fit their specific personalities and tastes.

Click here to view the embedded video.

For those that want to purchase one of the Ferrari California’s, then the sad news is that you are out of luck according to The Ferrari Weblog. Numerous magazines and websites are reporting that California is officially sold out and that Ferrari will not be making more until 2012. Whether this is true or not, has not been confirmed by Ferrari company. However, most professionals in the reporting world, expect this to be the case, as many people are wanting to drive these cars. Finding a later model is still going to pose troubles, as most people do not get rid of the California’s and keep them as collections.

The Maserati GranTurismo was first unveiled in 2007 at the Geneva Motor Show. The Maserati is always considered one of the most sought after cars, often the dream car for many young people. The car is striking as soon as a person sees it. The astonishment factor that the car gives people is even before they know what is under the hood. Basically, the company wanted a car that screamed luxury, but while still being sporty. This two door car fits the bill exactly.

To get the GranTurismo into reality, there are many design concepts that went into the car. They utilized past Maseratis in order to get the idea of what they were wanting, and with combining the Pininfarina technology the concept was born. However, this look also applied to the interior of the car. The GranTurismo has an interior that is roomy and well thought out, which is something that most consumers love about the car. Even though it is a two door, the backseat is still roomy enough for people to sit, which is not normal when looking at other two door sports cars. However, one for the most common complaints is that the seats are a bit stiff.

The GranTurismo is a bit heavier than other cars, which means that speed is somewhat affected. However, most people agree that the impact is not much and it does not interfere with the overall feeling towards the car. The current model for the GranTurismo is available in a 4.2 liter V8 engine trim that gets around 405 horsepower. The GranTurismo S utilizes a 4.7 liter, V8 engine that gets around 433 horsepower. The S model is the more sportier version of the GranTurismo and the package includes twenty inch alloy wheels, sport tuned suspension, as well as a sporty exhaust. The S version can go from zero to sixty in 4.8 seconds. Though the taking off power may not be as good as competitors, once the GranTurismo gets rolling, it can compete with the best of them.

The standard features on the GranTurismo are slim, which leaves many to wonder why the car does cost so much. However, the extras are what this car is all about. Many professionals have noted that the special options that are available to buyers will make any car enthusiasts head spin with the choices. One of the most odd choices that is included is the option to have brake calipers painted one out of five possible color choices. It is definitely a way to make your car stand out against the crowd, however the GranTurismo does that job pretty well on its own. I personally prefer the GranTurismo Convertible — by far the sexiest one in the range…

Those who are interested in purchasing a GranTurismo should have their wallets ready, as you will pay way of $100,000 for the car. However, once you start ordering those special options, you can look at almost double what the basic model will cost a person. Though many view ordering one of these cars as a way to go a little crazy and get exactly what you are wanting since you are already paying such a high price.

The England-arm of Mistubishi just released the specification and pricing of the much-awaited city-driving crossover, the ASX. This vehicle is slated to be sold on July 1, 2010. The vehicle is designed to rival the Nissan Qashqai. The ASX will be offered in either 1.6-liter petrol engine (mated to a 5-speed manual transmission), or a 1.8-liter turbo diesel (mated with a 6-speed manual transmission). The former can generate 115HP, while the latter is more powerful, generating up to 147 HP.

According to reports, petrol units will be offered exclusively with a front wheel drive, while the diesel model can be customized with an AWC electric four-wheel-drive system. The pricing for the ASX ranges between £14,999 and £22,049.

Both ASX variants will carry standard features including Automatic Stop & Go, alloy wheels, Active Stability Control, air conditioning, Traction Control, key-less entry, ABS with BED, aux-in-jack, Brake Assist, 2-stage side, front and curtain airbags, a knee airbag for the driver, and a telescopic and tilt steering column.

With the small crossover, Mistubishi’s Managing Director Lance Bradley revealed that they’re targeting consumers who would usually purchase C-segment cars. With C-segment cars, the Mistubishi spokesperson meant vehicles like Ford Focus and the VW Golf. More specifically, though, they’re trying to please a market that wants to downsize SUV cars into family estate vehicles.

Bradley also added that with the small crossover, you can enjoy the “best of both world”. We’re guessing that he means the compactness of the small c-segment car combined with the power of an SUV.

It’s official. Nissan announced last Tuesday that it will be recalling almost 135,000 coupes and sedan units. The company will be doing damage control over glitches in the wiring harness which connects the ODS (occupant detection sensor) control unit and the BTS (belt tension sensor). Both are located under the front passenger seat, and the glitch may prevent the deployment of the passenger airbag in case of a car crash.

The models which were affected by the glitch are G35 Coupes (manufactured between April 1, 2004 and May 30, 2007) and G35 sedans (manufactured between March 29, 2004 and August 25, 2006). The Japanese car manufacturer already made the initiative to recall its G35 units, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that Nissan still needs to provide them with the official notification schedule.

According to Nissan spokesperson Colin Price, 65% of the vehicles recalled were sedans, which the remaining 35% were coupes. These affected Nissan models were made in their mother plant in Japan. The greater bulk of the vehicles were distributed in the United States, although some units were recalled from Taiwan, Guam, the Middle East, South Korea, Canada and Puerto Rico as well.

Right now, Price is asking Infiniti G35 owners whose cars have red lights lit on their dashboards (indicating the connection disruption for the airbag) to bring their cars to the dealer. The company will notify owners with no red lights lit on their dashboard when they can have their units serviced.

Those who may own G35 coupes or sedans that fall under the recall period may also get in touch with Infiniti by contacting the company at 1-800-662-6200. Infiniti is a noted luxury car brand for Nissan.

Daimler signed an international alliance with Renault-Nissan last week so the three carmakers can share technology and reduce cost with their global production.

The car manufacturers will collaborate on several projects like production of small cars, commercial units, and engines. The partnership will also pump in skills and knowledge to produce more efficient vehicles to meet the stricter fuel and emission standards around the globe.

The effects of the tie-up is far different from the Chrysler and Daimler-Benz pact which has very little benefit to both parties and weakens the position of the American carmaker in the market.

The participating companies will continue to market their brands separately and operate independently. They will work together for next generation products like the Twingo cars and the Smart ForTwo. There will also be new models like the Smart ForFour (much better than the Smart ForTwo, seriously, I tested it!) expected to roll out in the United States. The new vehicles will come by 2013 and will be assembled in Renault Factories in Slovenia and France.

The tie-up for engine development will aid the car makers in areas where they are a bit weak. Renault will chip in their knowledge on small car engines while Daimler will give contribute on luxury car engine development.

Daimler will be providing the Nissan luxury line Infiniti with their 4- and 6-cylinder engines. Daimler on the other side of the bargain will get diesel engines for the small cars under the Mercedes brand.

Aside from the obvious benefits on technology, savings on purchasing and parts is another big benefit of the alliance. It could also provide leverage for the companies to strategically approach emerging markets like Brazil and China.
