Cadillac recently released another teaser image of the 2014 ELR. If you have not heard of the ELR, it is an electric car with an extrnded range that sports a similar powertrain to the Chevrolet Volt. The 2014 Cadillac ELR is scheduled to be unwrapped at this year’s Detroit Auto Show.
The Cadillac electric car can be traced back to the concept car called Converj that was unveiled by the carmaker back in 2009. That vehicle was so popular that it was given the go for production. Unfortunately, due to the bankruptcy of General Motors then, the project was put on hold. In 2011, the Converj resurfaced as the ELR.
Just like the first study, the ELR was also a big hit in the automotive world and was again immediately given the thumbs up for production. Since then, the car manufacturer has been quiet about the development until teaser images surfaced recently. Looking at the teaser, it seems the production version of the Cadillac ELR will be keeping a lot of the styling elements of the concept version.
The 2014 ELR will have a raked profile and a catchy boomerang style headlamps. Spy shots that surfaced over the web shows that it will be in a coupe form and will most likely be similar to the Volt in size.
Given its under the Cadillac brand, the ELR will surely have a lavish interior with a dose of technological goodies. The price tag is said to hit $50K plus so this will allow the designers to think of using lightweight materials in order to go around the issue of being overweight due to the comfort and tech features.
There is also a good chance that a more powerful engine will be utilized. Expect something more potent than the 1.4L powerplant under the hood of the Volt. It can be an Opel-developed four-cylinder engine that has a displacement of 1.8 liters. This setup will allow faster charging of the battery and more satisfying performance overall.
The engineers of Cadillac will most likely send the power of the engine to the front wheels. The battery is expected to have a capacity of 17 kWh.
The production of the ELR will be done at the Hamtramck factory in Detroit where the Chevy Volt is also being manufactured.
The latest version of the SLS AMG of Mercedes-Benz might still have some room for improvement There is a big chance though that the Black Series of the gullwing super car may have answers for those shortcomings. Recently, the carmaker released a teaser for the Black Series SLS AMG.
Mercedes-Benz has not confirmed the information but we are quite sure that the image is really that of the SLS AMG Black Series. The full image of the new special edition SLS AMG will be revealed any time this week.
So what should you expect from the Black Series 2014 SLS AMG? Earlier spy shots of the sports car suggests that under the long bonnet of the car will be a more powerful 6.2L V-8 engine that can crank out 650 horses.
The Black Series may also include a tweaked suspension system, bigger rear wing, wider body, and a new set of rims and tires. Most likely it will blaze on wider rubbers to make sure it can handle the extra power and the faster pace
The car is being tagged as a 2014 model and then being unveiled this year. We expect the production of the SLS AMG Black Series will begin by next year. Expect the cool car to be unveiled completely during the auto show in Los Angeles before the end of this month.
The Mini Coupe attracts a lot of potential buyers. It is a bit different than its other counterparts as the brand makes the sticker price so tempting. This version of the Cooper is the cheapest of the brood.
Do not be misled though by its classification as the entry-level unit, the Mini Coupe is not at all slow. Remember it is donning a Cooper badge. The 1.6L petrol engine under its hood can crank out 121 bhp and has a surprisingly good oomph when you step on the throttle.
Like its other siblings on the Mini lineup, the 2012 Mini Coupe has very crisp steering and handles corners very well. It is well balanced and maintains a strong control of the body. The suspension is a bit taut, making the ride very firm but still comfortable for the occupants.
The engine can get pretty vocal when you speed up on the motorway at around 70 mph. The road noise is a good thing to be addressed by its designers.
The mini-coupe has only two seats and its interior is designed for functionality. The interior is not cramped though as the looks might suggest and its boot is bigger that you might expect. Behind the seats, the occupants can pull on a hatch to access the boot.
The driving position gives the driver a very good visibility on all almost all corners but you can do a lot of adjustments to the steering wheel and driver’s seat if needed. The dashboard is again a mish-mash with switches you will wish are located somewhere else. The materials used for the interior are far from cheap and gives you that feeling of plush and value for what you have spent for this Mini.
The Mini Coupe sells for 16,640 quids rolled with the glamor the brand brings to a two-seater. It is fairly reasonable to be an everyday ride as it returns on average 52.3 miles per gallon. Its resale value is also very stable.

The Bentley Continental is a name that has been given to numerous vehicles over the years since 1952. For example, Bentley R Continental, Bentley S1 Continental, Bentley Continental R, GTC Bentley Continental GTC, and the Bentley Continental GT, just to name a few. Each Bentley Continental was considered luxurious and a car that many people wanted to own simply because of the prestige that is associated with these cars. The Bentley automaker first began in 1919, however they focused more on racing cars, rather than the luxury line that they would later focus on.
The first Bentley Continental was the Bentley R Type. This car was one of those cars that people said was flashy and demanded that those passing by stop and stare. The car was much similar to a Rolls Royce, which was the idea. Most people find that performance wise, this car was above and beyond many other cars at the time. However, as time began to pass, Bentley was able to develop cars that were much more performance driven.
Probably one of the most common and popular types of Bentley Continental, is the Bentley Continental GT that was first produced in 2003. Performance wise, the GT can go from zero to sixty in around 4.8 seconds, which is the main reason people are drawn to the car. However, cosmetically wise, the car screams luxury with sleek lines and a look of expense. The car is still in production today and is considered one of the best selling cars that the automaker offers. An upgraded version of the GT was introduced to the public as the Continental Flying Spur. This car utilizes the most advanced technology that is available. With a top speed of 194 miles per hour, as well as going from zero to sixty in 4.9 seconds and equipped with a V12 motor, there is no doubt why this is considered another one of their top selling vehicles.
The Ferrari California was first introduced at the 2008 Paris Motor Auto Show, and it was the moment in which Ferrari did a number of firsts with this vehicle that the public was surprised and appreciated greatly. For starters, the Ferrari California was the first Ferrari that included a front engine that was a V8. In addition, it was the first car to utilize a folding metal roof, a seven speed dual clutch transmission, and the first with direct petrol injection.
Performance wise the Ferrari California can go a maximum of 193 miles per hour, with a time of 4 seconds when going from zero to sixty. Which is impressive, and perhaps one of the many reasons why the car is sought after by performance car enthusiasts. The California definitely kept with the history of Ferrari as providing performance driven cars that people love, as well as providing high quality cars that have all the bells and whistles. However, even though the Ferrari California is viewed as a performance car, it was intended to be for cruising just as much as a performance car.
The Maserati GranTurismo was first unveiled in 2007 at the Geneva Motor Show. The Maserati is always considered one of the most sought after cars, often the dream car for many young people. The car is striking as soon as a person sees it. The astonishment factor that the car gives people is even before they know what is under the hood. Basically, the company wanted a car that screamed luxury, but while still being sporty. This two door car fits the bill exactly.
To get the GranTurismo into reality, there are many design concepts that went into the car. They utilized past Maseratis in order to get the idea of what they were wanting, and with combining the Pininfarina technology the concept was born. However, this look also applied to the interior of the car. The GranTurismo has an interior that is roomy and well thought out, which is something that most consumers love about the car. Even though it is a two door, the backseat is still roomy enough for people to sit, which is not normal when looking at other two door sports cars. However, one for the most common complaints is that the seats are a bit stiff.
The GranTurismo is a bit heavier than other cars, which means that speed is somewhat affected. However, most people agree that the impact is not much and it does not interfere with the overall feeling towards the car. The current model for the GranTurismo is available in a 4.2 liter V8 engine trim that gets around 405 horsepower. The GranTurismo S utilizes a 4.7 liter, V8 engine that gets around 433 horsepower. The S model is the more sportier version of the GranTurismo and the package includes twenty inch alloy wheels, sport tuned suspension, as well as a sporty exhaust. The S version can go from zero to sixty in 4.8 seconds. Though the taking off power may not be as good as competitors, once the GranTurismo gets rolling, it can compete with the best of them.
