Abarth 695 tribute for Maserati heads to Geneva

abarth-695-tributo-maseratiDuring the 2011 Frankfurt auto show, Abarth showcased the 695 Tributo in honor of Ferrari. The tuned Fiat 500 was dedicated to the legacy of the prancing horse. Next month, Maserati will be honored.

The Tributo Maserati Abarth 695 will hit the halls of the motor show in Geneva highlighting the luxurious features Maserati is known for and pacing the extra kick that Abarth wants in every ride it gets its hands on.

Only 499 units of the Maserati tribute Abarth 695 will be sold in the market. The car was a product of collaboration between Abarth and Maserati. It features the Gran Turismo comfort plus all the elegance you can put into the ride and the handling that you can rely on driving around the asphalt everyday.

Under the hood of the Abarth 695 tribute car is a boosted 1.4L 16 valve T-jet powerplant that gives out 180 horsepower mated with Abarth Competizione gearbox that can be manipulated with paddle shifters. Other features include Brembo brakes 17-inch rims by Maserati, and dual mode exhaust setup.

The car gets a Pontevecchio Bordeaux finish from Maserati and gets a soft top made of grey fabric. The interior is dominated by Poltrona Frau rare leather, matte finish trim, and Jaeger made instruments. Looking at the inside, you can say this ride is more Maserati than a Fiat.

Ten things to know about the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

If you love Italian cars, then you might have heard of Lamborghini and their head turning speed monster the Aventador LP700-4. Here are some nice facts that you may want to add to your automotive knowledge bank:

  1. The Lamborghini Murcielago steps down the lineup and replaced by the Lamborghini Aventador.
  2. The sticker price on this monstrous bull starts at $387,000.
  3. All the power comes from a V12 6.5L powerplant that gives out 690 horsepower with a torque of 509 lb-ft.
  4. The big engine requires a minimum oil level of 3.4 gallons so it will run smoothly and around 6.6 gal of coolant to keep the temperature of the engine acceptable Yup, that is about five times more than your ordinary car.
  5. The powerful engine is coupled with a 7 speed Independent Shifting Rod gearbox that makes shift times faster than a dual clutch transmission.
  6. The annul fuel cost to run the Aventador is about $4,291 as it goes on the city 11mpg, on the highway 17 mpg, and a combined rating of 13 mpg. A full tank on average will cost you around $80. Plus think of the additional tax for a gas guzzling ride.
  7. Wonder why it consumes that much fuel? The Aventador can go from 0 to 60 mph in jut 2.9 seconds with a top speed pegged at 217 mph.
  8. The Aventador is equipped with F1 style suspension and has a monocoque carbon-fiber architecture. According to Lamborghini, the ride is two generations advance compared to any of their available rides.
  9. It also has a Haldex 4WD system.

The Bentley Continental is a name that has been given to numerous vehicles over the years since 1952. For example, Bentley R Continental, Bentley S1 Continental, Bentley Continental R, GTC Bentley Continental GTC, and the Bentley Continental GT, just to name a few. Each Bentley Continental was considered luxurious and a car that many people wanted to own simply because of the prestige that is associated with these cars. The Ferrari California

The Ferrari California was first introduced at the 2008 Paris Motor Auto Show, and it was the moment in which Ferrari did a number of firsts with this vehicle that the public was surprised and appreciated greatly. For starters, the Ferrari California was the first Ferrari that included a front engine that was a V8. In addition, it was the first car to utilize a folding metal roof, a seven speed dual clutch transmission, and the first with direct petrol injection.

Performance wise the Ferrari California can go a maximum of 193 miles per hour, with a time of 4 seconds when going from zero to sixty. Which is impressive, and perhaps one of the many reasons why the car is sought after by performance car enthusiasts. The Maserati GranTurismo was first unveiled in 2007 at the Geneva Motor Show. The Maserati is always considered one of the most sought after cars, often the dream car for many young people. Price of Mitsubishi ASX Small Crossover Released in England

The England-arm of Mistubishi just released the specification and pricing of the much-awaited city-driving crossover, the ASX. This vehicle is slated to be sold on July 1, 2010. The vehicle is designed to rival the Nissan Qashqai. The ASX will be offered in either 1.6-liter petrol engine (mated to a 5-speed manual transmission), or a 1.8-liter turbo diesel (mated with a 6-speed manual transmission). The former can generate 115HP, while the latter is more powerful, generating up to 147 HP.

ASX MitsubishiAccording to reports, petrol units will be offered exclusively with a front wheel drive, while the diesel model can be customized with an AWC electric four-wheel-drive system. The pricing for the ASX ranges between £14,999 and £22,049.

Both ASX variants will carry standard features including Automatic Stop & Go, alloy wheels, Active Stability Control, air conditioning, Traction Control, key-less entry, ABS with BED, aux-in-jack, Brake Assist, 2-stage side, front and curtain airbags, a knee airbag for the driver, and a telescopic and tilt steering column.

Infiniti Announces its Recall of 134,215 G35 Coupe and Sedan Models

It’s official. Nissan announced last Tuesday that it will be recalling almost 135,000 coupes and sedan units. The company will be doing damage control over glitches in the wiring harness which connects the ODS (occupant detection sensor) control unit and the BTS (belt tension sensor). g35 Coupe InfinitiBoth are located under the front passenger seat, and the glitch may prevent the deployment of the passenger airbag in case of a car crash.

The models which were affected by the glitch are G35 Coupes (manufactured between April 1, 2004 and May 30, 2007) and G35 sedans (manufactured between March 29, 2004 and August 25, 2006). The Japanese car manufacturer already made the initiative to recall its G35 units, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that Nissan still needs to provide them with the official notification schedule.

Daimler forms alliance with Renault-Nissan

Daimler signed an international alliance with Renault-Nissan last week so the three carmakers can share technology and reduce cost with their global production.

The car manufacturers will collaborate on several projects like production of small cars, commercial units, and engines. The partnership will also pump in skills and knowledge to produce more efficient Renault Twingovehicles to meet the stricter fuel and emission standards around the globe.

The effects of the tie-up is far different from the Chrysler and Daimler-Benz pact which has very little benefit to both parties and weakens the position of the American carmaker in the market.

The participating companies will continue to market their brands separately and operate independently. They will work together for next generation products like the Twingo cars and the Smart ForTwo. There will also be new models like the Smart ForFour (much better than the Smart ForTwo, seriously, I tested it!) expected to roll out in the United States. The new vehicles will come by 2013 and will be assembled in Renault Factories in Slovenia and France.
